How to interpret your AI share of voice score

Once you have your score, here's what to do with it:

Below 20% — Your brand is largely absent from the AI conversation in your category. The priority is content investment: comparison pages, use-case content, and authoritative category coverage that AI engines can cite.

20–40% — You have a foothold. AI engines mention you in some contexts but not across the full range of buyer prompts. Gap analysis shows which prompt categories your competitors own that you don't.

40–60% — Competitive position. You're in the conversation consistently. The focus shifts from coverage to context: what's the sentiment of your citations, and are you being cited as the recommended option or just mentioned?

Above 60% — Category leader position. At this level, the risk is complacency — competitors are actively trying to displace you. Track share of voice weekly rather than monthly, and monitor sentiment changes.

The benchmark that matters most is your trend over time, not the absolute number. A brand moving from 15% to 30% over six months is executing GEO well, even if the number is still modest.
